Our Story

Paasha Turkish Kitchen began its journey in Istanbul Turkey with head chef and owner Zeki Bay. It continued to London with Paasha Café & Mezze Bar, in Upper Street, Islington, London.

It was there that Zeki met Jumelia a New Zealander of Lebanese decent who was also working as a chef in London at the time.

Jumelia returned home to New Zealand with Zeki to be married. They decided to stay and opened Paasha Turkish Cafe & Takeaway at 31 St Andrews Street, Dunedin in 1992. This saw the beginning of The Paasha Group and many outlets all over New Zealand, including Nelson, Pukekohe, Hamilton and Glenfield Auckland.

Paasha’s speciality is the ‘Shish kebab’ skewered lamb, chicken and kofta marinated with our own special blend of spices and chargrilled on an open fire the traditional and authentic way, served with a variety of handmade sauces

Also on the menu, beef shawarma and the classic doner kebab, lamb and chicken cooked on a rotating spit all served as you choose in a pita pocket, as a wrap or on rice with tabouli, salads and hummus.

Paasha’s menu caters for their halal, vegetarian, vegan and dairy free customers.

Included on the menu will be freshly baked Turkish Pide and Turkish sweets.

Paasha Turkish Kitchen is now open at 261 Dominion Road, Mt Eden, Auckland.
